PRP – Platelet-Rich Plasma Aftercare

After receiving Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment, the following aftercare guidelines are generally recommended to ensure the best possible results and minimize side effects:

Avoid Washing the Treated Area: Typically, it’s advised to avoid washing the treated area for at least 48 hours post-treatment to ensure the PRP has time to be absorbed fully.

Use Gentle Skincare Products: When you resume washing, use gentle, non-abrasive cleansers and avoid exfoliating brushes or scrubs to not irritate the skin.

Avoid Direct Sun Exposure: Protect the treated area from direct sun exposure. If you must go outdoors, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.

Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help enhance the healing process and maintain skin hydration.

Avoid Strenuous Activities: It’s usually recommended to avoid heavy exercise and sweating for at least 72 hours after the treatment to prevent swelling and maximise healing.

No Alcohol and Smoking: Avoid alcohol consumption and smoking for at least a few days after the procedure as they can impede the healing process.

Cold Compresses: If you experience swelling, apply cold compresses to the area for intervals of 15-20 minutes.
